Why hire a YNAB Coach?

There are many compelling reasons to work with a coach.
YNAB has a high learning curve and a methodology that is unique in the world of personal finance apps. Working with a coach significantly lowers that learning curve and helps you more quickly grasp the methodology.
No two people have the same personal finance situations. An individualized touch from a coach can help clarify your priorities, identify your unique roadblocks, and set you up for success.
Many people desire accountability and motivation to reach their goals. A coach helps with this.
Working with a coach provides opportunities for you to receive feedback on your budget, goals, and spending.
In working with someone who personally uses YNAB on a daily basis, your own chances of success are greatly improved.
You can master YNAB faster and with less stress!
Here are some examples of clients I work with.
Individuals and couples who have never used YNAB and are wanting help with setup.
Those who have used YNAB for a short time and are encountering roadblocks.
Anyone who has a specific question about their YNAB use.

Testimonials & Success Stories
Prior to coaching with Eric, I struggled to keep track of my finances and I was starting to fall behind. As a young male just starting out on his own, I am independent for the first time. I have my own apartment, work full time and have a loan on a new vehicle. All of the new expenses seemed to overwhelm me at times and I knew previously that if I continued to deal with my finances the way that I did, it would lead to lots of hardship and most likely debt in my future. After coaching I feel confident to handle my own finances maturely and correctly so that I am setting myself up well for the here and now, while also setting myself up for the future. I have little to no stress now about my financial situation and am actually excited for my future when it comes to the monetary situation I hope to be in.

Eric guided the time to make the most of each session. We always reviewed what was most beneficial. Eric was super encouraging, stating the issues we’ve had with spending money without a hint of condescension or judgment. We always felt encouraged, never less-than! We felt totally safe to be honest and grow in our weaknesses. We had our questions answered, and when we didn’t, Eric found the answers for us. We got back to budgeting with CONFIDENCE. We know coaching is worth it and SAW the power of FACING our budget head on. I can’t think of a better way to move forward!

Coaching with Eric allowed my wife and I to truly get on and stick to a budget. Over a year later, we are still on our budget and it has allowed us to save for a house, fund an emergency fund, and ultimately live a healthier financial life. Coaching with Eric gave us the tools and framework to really manage our budget well, and it has led to healthier communication in marriage, a reduction in stress, and a more positive outlook on our finances.
David - Lancaster, PA
Eric has greatly helped our marriage and the financial stress and arguments we were having. He has set us up with a FANTASTIC plan which has made communication improve in our marriage and has given us clear goals to agree on. Working with Eric took out any guess-work or uncertainty in our finances/budget. If we had tried to do YNAB on our own, we would have likely thrown in the towel. But Eric made it seamless and made the learning curve move quickly. Eric has been a huge asset to our financial journey!
Caleb and Meagan - PA
Eric has been incredibly helpful. I believe I'm on the right path. I have lots of work to do, but pulling the numbers out of magical thinking and back into black and white (and hopefully not red) has been so essential.
Thank you so much Eric for your expertise and guidance!

The above offerings are examples. I can custom-tailor a coaching package for you! 😄 For someone who has never before used YNAB, it usually takes 4-6 coaching sessions to become confident. I can also offer additional sessions after the completion of a coaching program.

Eric's YNAB Journey
Growing up, I learned the value of saving and spending money wisely, and had managed to save a small stash of cash by the time I entered adulthood. Although I had learned about the need to save and spend wisely, I never assigned the dollars I had to specific priorities. Instead, I simply relied on the ever-changing balance of my bank account to tell me whether I could "afford" something. Relying on the account balance was better than nothing, but it didn't give me a concrete method for how to prioritize my spending and saving. 😰
As I progressed further into adulthood, the financial demands of life quickly began to accumulate, and my small cash cushion rapidly depleted. I realized I needed a better way to manage my personal cash flow. In 2014, I developed a spending plan using YNAB, which quickly became a significant help in securing greater control, clarity, and composure in my financial life. 🎉
A few years later I began dating my (now) wife, but was concerned with the amount of debt we would carry into a marriage. Shortly after "tying the knot," we made a plan to pay off over $80,000 of our combined debt, and we did so within a couple of years of getting married with the help of our YNAB spending plan. YNAB gave us the clarity we needed to prioritize our debt payments while still prioritizing other areas of spending that were important to us. The freedom from debt has not only given us the ability to meet our daily needs and save for the future, but has also enabled us to give to others around us as needs arise. 🎁
I have held several professional positions over the years as a teacher and tutor, and have always enjoyed sharing things I've learned with others. Since paying off our debts, I have guided others toward having more peace around their finances using YNAB's methodologies. As a certified YNAB coach, it is my desire to help you have clarity around your spending so you too can have more freedom to "do good" in the world around you. 🙌
